Introduction

SANDRA NATALI RESIDENCE FOR ARTISTS

The legacy
Sandra Natali Residence for artists was created in 2010 thanks to the legacy of her apartment in Bologna. Sandra Natali, secondary high school teacher, appointed the former Istituzione Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Bologna (now part of Istituzione Bologna Musei) as her sole heir.

The transformation from private home to residence for young artists
In respect of Sandra Natali's last wishes - that binds the Museum to accept the legacy only to substain and promote the work of young artists – the apartment, located in Via Turati n. 41, has been transformed in a residence for artists to whom the Istituzione Bolgona Musei offers the opportunity to develop issues and researches in collaboration with other local and international institutions.
The apartment, a 90 square meters space, consists of a kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living-room turned in a lab-atelier in which the artists can create works in collaboration with MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna. In order to develop the apartment’s spaces in a more functional way, a few structural works were done.

Venue dedicated to education and artistic production
The Residence format allows MAMbo to add a further venue exclusively dedicated to the growth of young artists and their introduction in the art’s world, supporting the most actual expressions of visual contemporary culture.
